DOD Report on Voice Stress Analysis
The Department of Defense Polygraph Institute has reported that there is "no credible evidence furnished by manufacturers, in the peer reviewed scientific literature or in DOD research that the so-called voice stress analysis (VSA) or computer CVSA is an effective investigative tool for determining deception. "The report stated that the polygraph is "far more accurate," has evolved over one hundred years of practice and research, and "has established validity supported by published research." In Texas only State licensed polygraph examiners using approved polygraph instruments may legally represent themselves as someone offering professional opinions in truth or deception.
